As you know that weather can have a great impact on your health, in winters the most common disease that a person suffers from is the common cold. During the rainy season it is typhoid or diarrhoea, but did you know that the number of cases of typhoid or diarrhoea, increases during summers? According to the survey, people suffer more from UTI in summers than in any season.
WHAT IS UTI –
UTI or urinary tract infection is nothing but an infection in any part of your urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Both men and women can get urinary tract infections. Studies have shown that women are more prone to UTIs and the two main reasons for that are the closeness of the urethra to the anus and the shorter length of the urethra.
SYMPTOMS OF UTI –
The most common symptom of UTI is pain during urination or while having sexual intercourse also the pain can radiate to the bladder, groin and abdomen.
The Colour and the odour of your urine is also an indicator of UTI. Foul-smelling urine, cloudy and dark urine, blood in the urine. Persistent urge to urinate, sense of incomplete bladder emptying and fever are some symptoms.
WHY SUMMERS, THOUGH?
The main reason behind this is the heat in summers, there is a lot of sweating in the private and genital areas, hence causing the growth of bacteria. These bacteria can travel to the urethra as well and can lead to UTI. Another reason is the increased sexual activity during summers, and sex often introduces bacteria to the urinary tract.
THINGS YOU CAN DO TO STAY PROTECTED –
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, water often hinders the growth of bacteria.
Don’t hold your pee, this can increase the risk of getting a UTI.
Change your inner more than usual. You can change your inner twice in 24 hours.
If you choose to have summertime intercourse then always remember to pee after the act this will flush out the bacterial growth and will reduce the chances of developing a urinary tract infection
also, women should wipe the anal area from front to back.
