Anosmia- Loss Of Smell

Anosmia means loss of sense of smell. It is usually caused by nasal condition and rarely by brain injury. As the nose is in direct contact with the external environment, it is exposed to the many microorganisms and pollutants present in the atmosphere. Due to the increase in environmental pollution and the busy lifestyles of today, rhinitis and sinusitis are common disease in the present era. Improper management of this stage leads to sinusitis, which may later lead to chronic sinusitis. All these disease have a common symptom as anosmia.

PANCHAMRIT: – DIVINE NECTAR

Panchamrit is an essential requirement for any pooja according to the Hindu religion. It is the divine offering to the deities and used during Abhisheka. The word is a combination of two words, Pancha (five) and Amrut (divine nectar). According to Mahabharta, Panchamrit was one of the ingredients that appeared during the Samudra Mathan also known as Ksheera Saagar mathan (churning the ocean of milk).

Concept of Healthy Skin in Ayurveda

 

According to Ayurveda, a number of factors determine skin health and youthfulness. These include proper moisture balance (Kapha in balance), effective functioning of the metabolic mechanisms that co-ordinate all the various chemical and hormonal reactions of the skin (Pitta in balance) and efficient circulation of blood and nutrients to the different layers of the skin (Vata in balance). The health of the following three dhatus (types of body tissue) are especially reflected in the skin: nutritional fluid (Rasa), blood (Rakta) and muscle (Mamsa). Rasa supports all the body tissues, particularly keeping the skin healthy, Rakta, in association with liver function, helps detoxify the skin, while Mamsa provides firmness to the skin.

COVID-19 and Influenza

Viruses are tiny microbes that survive by invading other living cells. Both covid-19 and seasonal flu are viral infections but covid-19 is due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and flu is from influenza A and B viruses. There are 4 types of seasonal influenza viruses, types A, B, C and D. Influenza A and B viruses circulate and cause seasonal epidemics of disease. Seasonal influenza spreads easily and can sweep through schools, nursing homes, businesses or towns. When an infected person coughs, infected droplets get into the air and another person can breathe them in and be exposed.

Stress And Ayurveda

It is said that about 89% of the population of India suffer from stress which is higher than the global average of 86%. Stress has become a common mental health issue in India due to the work demands and the financial pressures of modern life. As far as the body is able to cope with stress, it acts as a normal stimulus required for our physical and social well-being and is known as eustress. On the other hand, stress becomes distressed when the individual is unable to cope with it and without any relief. Thus, eustress helps in improving the performance, whereas, distress is known to induce a number of clinical conditions. Distress can disturb the body’s internal balance or equilibrium, leading to physical symptoms such as headaches, an upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, sexual dysfunction, and problems while sleeping. Conditions like depression, panic attacks, or other forms of anxiety and worry can result from emotional problems. Research suggests that stress also can cause or worsen certain symptoms or diseases. Heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, and suicide are the leading causes of death due to stress.
