Ubtan Abhyanga Snan

Narak Chaturdashi being one of the five days celebrations is one of the most important days of Diwali. It is believed that on this auspicious day Lord Krishna killed the demon called Narakasur. This day signifies the victory of good over evil.

Begin with the abhyanga snan and wash away all your problems. Abhyanga Snan symbolises the elimination of evil, followed by a purification process.

The early morning bath is of significance because the holy water symbolises the end of the evil powers. Since abhyanga snan is taken before sunrise it is considered as holy as taking bath in the River Ganges.
Traditionally, Ubtan (Coarse Powder) made of a variety of varnya (complexion) herbs is used for bathing. People use this mixture from head to toe not only to cleanse and moisturise their bodies but also to rid themselves of the Pitta Dosha and dead skin cells. It leaves a person feeling rejuvenated, hydrated, relaxed, and refreshed ahead of the auspicious festival of Diwali.
